Tooth Whitening Winnipeg MB

Having a beautiful smile may be even easier than you think. Many people achieve the look they've been dreaming of with our simple whitening procedure.  At Westwood Dental Center, we offer two methods of tooth whitening – Home whitening or in-office Zoom whitening.

Home whitening is safe, relatively quick, and inexpensive. Just let us know at any appointment if you would like to begin whitening. You can lighten only your upper teeth or both the upper and lower, depending on how much of each shows when you talk and smile.

In only a few days your custom whitening trays will be ready for you to pick up. We provide you with a special whitening solution that you put into the clear, almost invisible trays. You will have options of wearing the trays overnight or simply for about 1 hour a day.  Our special whitening agent bubbles stains right out of your enamel in a very short time without altering tooth structure or existing dental work in any way. When your teeth reach the brightness you want, only occasional treatment is needed to maintain your new smile. We'll want to take "after" photos at your next appointment.

Dental whitening can be used to correct many tooth discolorations. These discolorations may have been caused by staining, aging, or chemical damage to teeth. Using the latest in whitening technology, we can offer a safe method for creating a beautiful, "brilliant" smile. In cases of extreme tooth discoloration, crowns or veneers may be the only choice. But because of the low cost of whitening treatments, it is nearly always worth a solid try. Dr. Shah, Dr. Johal or one our team members would be happy to discuss your tooth whitening options.

Key Benefits

  • Corrects brown, yellow and sometimes mottled tooth staining
  • Works on people of all ages.
  • A great solution for a "dull" smile, restoring brightness and bringing a smile alive.

How is it done?

An impression is taken to make a specialized tray or "stent" to hold the whitening solution against the teeth. The material is placed inside the trays and then worn over night.  There is also a formulation that may be used during the day for about one hour.  The whitening process typically takes about two weeks to accomplish, but may vary in length from patient to patient.   It is hard to predict what degree of shade change will occur, but usually the results are quite dramatic.  For confidence in appearance, whitening technology offers improvements in yellowing, aging or stained teeth.  For very severely stained teeth, crowns or veneers may be more appropriate.

Considerations

Over-the-counter whitening agents are available at drug stores and pharmacies. However, the concentrations of these products are typically less than those dispensed professionally through a dental office.  Used improperly, these products can harm the gums and teeth, so it’s better to use products that our practice recommends and can supervise.
